About Traditional American Weddings

Wedding traditions differ from culture to culture and ensure uniqueness in the nature of each ritual that it involve. Basically an American wedding traditions involves a joyous occasion that includes a number of invitees. The Traditional American Wedding involves a gorgeous occasion followed by a grand party as the two newly weds unite together into a sacred bondage of love and life.

Bridal shower:

There are some rituals that are observed in a traditional American Wedding. The American wedding includes Bridal shower followed by a Bridal Party. Again other rituals that are followed are the veil, kissing of the bride, the groom's cake and the last but not the least honeymoon. To begin with the Bridal Shower epitomizes the friendships between the bride and her female friends. It can also be considered as the bachelor party for the bride to be. It was the custom that emerged in the year 1890s where the Bridal Shower was an occasion where the friends of the brides would gift the bride-to-be small presents. The custom also involves the gifts to be placed in a parasol. The parasol was later poured open above the brides head which allowing the gifts to "shower" down on her.
Bridal Party:

The Bridal Party custom dates back to the Anglo-Saxon age where the groom used to be the "Brides knights" and made sure that the bride heads for the ceremony and then safely came back to her husband's home without being attacked and the dowry being stolen. In the present days, bridal party involves hard core partying and merriment.

Veil Custom:

Even in the present days, an American bride has to wear a Veil on the day of wedding as a mandatory custom. This tradition actually means that the groom hasn't yet seen the bride before the wedding ceremony. The veil custom dates back as it was popularly believed in the past that if the groom sees the bride before the wedding ceremony then he might dislike the bride and refuse to marry. Modern American wedding tradition still believes in these old customs and thus still practices the veil custom.

Church Wedding:

By the custom, a traditional American wedding is taken place at a church, where family and friends gets together. The traditional wedding of the Americans involve the Church Wedding that includes the best man, flower girls, exchanging vows and rings, and the wedding music. The priest is the person who performs the wedding rituals and unites the bride and groom in the pious wed lock. As a part of the custom the priest formally asks the invitees whether they have any objection in the bride and groom getting married. Thereafter the priest gets the positive response from the invitees before he declares the couple man and wife. However before the declaration as man and wife, the priest asks the couple to exchange wedding rings. Finally the bride and groom kiss and lead a happy life there after.
