Renegade Craft Fair Inspiration

A few weekends ago I had the pleasure of attending the Renegade Handmade Craft Fair when it blew through the windy city. Hundreds upon hundreds of handmade artists attended the fair, bringing with them sweet treats for the eye to oogle.

While drifting from booth to booth, a few artists really grabbed my attention. "Wow, that would make a fantastic reception favor," I'd think. "Gasp! What a wonderful addition to a ceremony!" So, over the next few days, I'd love to share some of my craft fair favorites with all of you. Perhaps it will inspire you to create, talk about, or include in your special day.

Up first, shybutinterested. A bit about shybutinterested in their own words:

We're the girls behind Shy but Interested, Kara Schmidt and Meagan Bennett (a.k.a. Meggs Benedict). We're two crafty roommates who met at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where Kara studied illustration and graphic design and Meggs studied graphic design and metals and jewelry. Currently, we live in a cozy little apartment in Brooklyn, New York. We share a deep appreciation for all things handmade, and we apply our passion to projects ranging from customized invitations and stationery to party favors, holiday decorations, and even jewelry.

And now, a few of my favorites from the girls' Etsy shop.

These handmade flag banners lined their booth and added so much fun color.

Create your own Kissing Tree

Kiss the Groom is a blog that celebrates life, love and kisses through photographs and personal insights - honoring weddings, family and other love stories. The site was created with love by photographer Elizabeth Messina, an artist & true romantic who loves bringing a little more beauty & sweetness into the world.

One of the sweetest bits of sweetness Messina's site provides, is Kissing Tree. Type in your honey and your names, write a lovely personal message, and Kiss the Groom will create and email you your own kissing tree.

So cute, and so so sweet. Print it out and tape it to your Trapper Keeper, hang it inside your locker, leave it on the bathroom mirror to surprise your sweetheart in the morning...whatever. Just enjoy!

Classic Creations in the Style Me Pretty Little Black Book!

We've said it once, and we'll say it again... we are obsessed with Style Me Pretty's wedding blog. For years they've been inspiring brides and planners alike with unique wedding ideas and fantastic photographs.

One of the most useful servies Style Me Pretty has is their Little Black Book. Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book is a highly edited collection of wedding service providers – from mom and pop boutiques to A-Listers. "Bottom line, these vendors are the best of the best," they say.

Classic Creations is excited, honored, thirlled, blushing, ecstatic...you name it... to have recently been added as a featured vendor in the Style Me Pretty Little Black Book.

The process to become a Little Black Book member is actually quite extensive. To be added, a vendor must first be recommended by a SMP reader, a recent bride or an industry professional. Second, SMP dives head first into the vendor’s business. Their portfolio, their experience, their time in the industry. And finally, after feeling completely confident that a particular vendor is fabulous, they invite them to be a part of the book! It’s an invitation only book that truly prides itself on it’s commitment to quality above all else.

Thank you so much Style Me Pretty for adding us to your book!

Photo of the Week : Teacup Tree

While recently perusing the blog of photographer Jasmine Star, I came across the wedding of Sarah & Chris. The couple's wedding was also recently featured on one of our favorite blogs, Style Me Pretty.

As soon as I saw the picture of the teacup tree detail, I sincerely gasped aloud. I don't know exactly what it is... perhaps just my obsession with dainty, antique teacups... but I love this teacup tree that Sarah & Chris made for their reception. Beyond.

Seriously, I can't stop looking at it! I even made it my desktop background so I have something unique and pretty to look at whenever I want. Maybe you all won't be quite as enthralled as I am, but I think we can all appreciate a nice cup of tea with this dreary, rainy weather we're having. Pour yourself a cup, add a little honey, and get inspired.

Inspiration: Catering on Wheels

Exhale...I told you we'd be back with three ideas of how you can incorporate throwback vehicles and catering on wheels into your special day, and here we are. Delivering as promised. Denver is full of opportunity, and here are tres of them to inspire you.

Steuben's : Steuben's Food Truck

Okay, you may be having a casual park wedding, or a high-end downtown wedding, but let's face it, at the end of the day, everyone likes burgers... and Steuben's for that matter. In June, Steuben's gassed up it's first ever food truck and let it loose on Denver. From Veggie Burgers to Green Chili Cheeseburgers, the Steuben's Food Truck looks good, smells, good and iiiis good.

Still in it's budding youth, we are sure to expect so many more amazing things from this truck. Stay tuned...

Denver Biscuit Company : Biscuit Bus

"Real Southern, Real Good" is the Denver Biscuit Company's motto. A wonderful fit for a rustic wedding's cocktail hour, the Biscuit Bus serves gourmet biscuit sandwiches on fresh-baked buttermilk biscuits that are made from scratch every day. And, speaking of made from scratch...well... everything is made from scratch! From the apple butter to the sausage. No joke!

Let's talk about the Ellsworth - buttermilk fried chicken with honey, stone-ground mustard, and homemade pickles - or the Jack Lee - bacon with grape jelly. These unique little sandwiches are perfect to satisfy southern tongues and munchie madness.

Cake Crumbs Bakery : The Denver Cupcake Truck

In April 2010, the Cake Crumbs Bakery rolled out their Cupcake Truck. "I've just always had a vision of cupcakes being vended from an old time delivery truck," said Denon Moore, owner of Cake Crumbs when interviewed by Westword. Piloted by her husband, Sean, the Cupcake Truck cruises around Denver, gracing streets with robins egg blue.

The cupcakes themselves, made from scratch, include flavors such as Mile-Hi Mocha (mocha cake, frosted with espresso butter cream, dipped into bits of heath bar), the Denver Snowball (almond cake, chocolate frosting, and dipped into coconut), and the Rockin' Red Velvet (red velvet cake, cream cheese frosting, dipped in sugar and silver dragees).

And, now I'm full. Time to roll me outta here!

Also, check out Comida for a pretty pink Boulder flair on roooolling food!

Creating an (air)Stream-Lined Affair

That's right, I said it - Airstream. As in, the luxury recreational trailer vehicles, recognized for their ovular shapes and aluminum bodies. So maybe you're not rushing to your planner to request a coral, plum, and aluminum-themed wedding, but hear me out.

Within the last year or so I've come across a few different weddings where the bride and groom have incorporated Airstreams into their design motif. The vehicles are a definite throwback, and can add a serious fun factor to your evening. Outside of serving as a photo opp for your and your guests, the Airstream addition can also serve a functional purpose. Recently, people have been converting Airstreams into catering on wheels - turning outdated travel wagons into posh-looking bars and even cupcake providers!

Here are some of our favorite ways classics-loving couples have incorporated these fine pieces of American history into their special days.

What did I tell you? Add an Airstream or rolling caterer to your wedding...your fun meter goes up 1,000 points! There are tons of way to incorporate this idea into your wedding in Denver. Just ask us, we have tons of ideas!

Seriously, we do. Check back tomorrow for three. Until then...

Oh, Sarah Seven...your dresses send us to heaven

Ah, the romance! The femininity! Portland, Oregon designer, Sarah Seven, has a unique way of turning wedding dresses into soft, decadent reminders of days gone by. Vintage-inspired pieces with a modern flair dot her simplistic line, begging to be donned by the daintiest of ladies.

We love love love Sarah Seven's bridal line and special occasions collections. The ruffles, the drapery, the flowing layers... all of it. Sarah Seven uses natual fabrics, silk, wool, linens, cotten voile as well as recycled vintage fabrics to created these stunning gowns, and best of all, a percentage of all sales are donated to her favorite charities - Compassion (to feed un-sponsored children) and International Justice Mission (works to free the enslaved).

Take an oggle at some of Sarah Seven's amazing dresses...can we buy one even if we're not getting married? Maybe just to sleep in? Love it.
