What You Missed at Fall 2010 Bridal Fashion Week

The bridal designers sent their latest looks for Fall 2010 down the runway in October.
Here are some of the bridal trends they have in store for us!

-The ballgown is back! Tight torsos and full skirts....love it! (This one by Carolina Herrera)
- Pockets! Now you can keep that tissue handy!
-There are crisp fabrics, lots of texture, laces, beads, sequins....

(The first is by Amsale and the second by Monique Lhuillier)

-Short hems- picture that perfect after party dress!

-How about a little black detailing? Love these sophisticated touches! (By Vera Wang)

-Fabric Rosettes (by Amsale) -Off the shoulder (also by Amsale) -Layers of tulle (more from Vera Wang)

Ah ladies...so many dresses....how can you pick just one?

Say NO to the Plain Bow!

Chair Ties...more than just a plain bow!

I was checking out new things at a local rental company and they had this table set up showing various options to the plain 'ol bow we typically see for chair ties. You've all seen it, right.....Now there's nothing wrong with a bow, it's just there are other tying treatments that you may not have seen. Here's a slight variation on the typical...

Or switch it UP.....BUT......I'm lovin' these!
This last one is my favorite!

Kylie & Bobby's Fall Wedding

Kylie and Bobby envisioned an elegant fall wedding, and an outdoor ceremony. Tricky for an end of September wedding...in Colorado you just don't know about the weather. Luckily, we had a gorgeous day .......and did I mention a stunning bride!

Kylie chose a pale yellow for her bridesmaids and then fall tones for all the wedding colors. Alicia at Bella Fiori did a fabulous job on all the flowers.

The groom's favorite hobby is golf....he was surprised by a few things like the ring bearers carrying the rings on golf tees.

Off to the ceremony....Kylie and Bobby chose the Rose Garden for the ceremony backdrop.
Elegant fall details on the chairs (curly willow, crystals, fall flowers and amaranthus), as well as on the candelabras.

More fabulous fall flowers at the reception in the garden canopy. Twinkle lights (provided by TDA) covered the ceiling and made a very romantic setting!
Desserts! There was a lot for the guests to choose from...the wedding cake, groom's golf ball cake (another surprise) or the smores station.
Thanks to Cooley Photography for great images, Epicurean Catering, and the Makery.

Bride and Bloom Magazine Feature!

Check us out in the latest issue of Bride and Bloom!

Have you seen this magazine, it's goorrrgeous! I love it for all the stunning floral ideas.

In this month's issue of Bride and Bloom we were selected as the Feature Coordinator!

After submitting our idea for the rustic elegance spread we didn't find out that we had been selected for this issue until the last minute. We were thrilled, but nervous that we had only one week to pull it all together!
Here's a few detail shots!

Love the close-up shot of the florals, check out the rustic treatment on the vase.

Julie Sandusky whipped up the paper items for us. We had birch wrap on everything from the invitation, vases, and even the napkin ring! That's the boutonniere on the right with the invite.

Our rustic table number....

Desiree at the Makery designed a cake that even looked like our birch inspiration. Oh... and thanks to Erika at the Villa Parker for letting us "borrow" a few branches for the cake base.

Thanks to Villa Parker, Bella-Fiori, Wildflower Linens, Jared Wilson Photography, JS Design, The Makery, & Event Rents for making this happen, and look so fab!

New Colorado Venue- Spruce Mountain Ranch

Spruce Mountain Guest Ranch- The Open House

I had been for a tour of this great facility that's just outside of Larkspur, but couldn't wait to see it set up for an event. Above is a photo of just one area you can use for the reception. They had all the areas set up for ceremonies and receptions. Including lovely floral arrangements. We had a great time at their open house, complete with a carriage ride! This is one option brides can choose for arriving at their ceremony.Spruce Mountain Guest Ranch is just a stunning facility, with so many options for ceremony and reception locations. If you are looking for an amazing outdoor ceremony and unique setting, you have to check this out! You get that great mountain feel, without the long drive.

I'm a Rockstar Wedding Planner!

Actually...I'm also a Rockstar Wedding Legend!

I belong to a great wedding group called Rockstar Wedding Planners, and within this group there are a few of us who belong to the Mastermind Group called Rockstar Legends. In August, we all gathered in Canada to talk about our business, and help each other brainstorm fabulous new ideas.

What an amazing time and setting! Although, it took a bit to get used to the fact that the sun didn't set until like 11:00pm?
The Chateau Lake Louise....an amazing place for a destination wedding or honeymoon. The glacier lake is just stunning, eh?

It wasn't all work and no play! We took time to tour Banff and the Banff Springs Hotel. Another amazing destination venue. Some of you may think it sounds familiar....yep...this is where an episode of The Bachelorette was filmed.

Me & Ciara Daykin- our fearless Rockstar Leader.

Love my fellow Rockstar Legends! Such fab ideas and amazing women! Although it's been a couple months, I still finding myself saying "eh" a lot, eh?

Ideas for Remembering Those You've Lost at Your Wedding

I'm sure some of you were wondering where I've been? It's been a hard few months as I've been coping with the sudden loss of my mother. What a challenging time it's been as I literally, within just a couple weeks, lived the movie title Four Weddings and a Funeral. I reflect on the great times with my mom, those that she'll miss, and how proud she was of me, my family and all my accomplishments (including a thriving wedding consulting business). She loved hearing about all of your wedding plans, questioned some of my brides choices (until she saw the photos of the end results), and loved the stories about each of my clients.

As I've been working on plans for next season clients, I'm reminded of my own wedding and how lucky I am that I was able to have all my parents there. I've had several clients who have parents and family members that have passed away, and they often ask what's the best way to memorialize them without it feeling too depressing or more of a memorial service than a grand celebration.

So here's a few ideas to help you out:
  • Candles set to the side of the ceremony or reception area, sometimes with a picture. You can choose to light it during the ceremony or privately prior to the start of the ceremony. I had one client whose father loved golf, so to honor him we created this golf ball filled vase, they lit the candle in quiet family moment prior to guests arriving.

  • Brides can carry photos in charm frames on their bouquet or pinned in lockets. Make sure your photographer gets a few close shots of this. You can get these at most craft or scrapbooking stores. Here's one from Bridal Bling on Etsy.

  • We often will leave an empty seat in the front row to honor parents they've lost, with a small bunch of flowers.

  • Couples often choose to include a note of explanation in the program. I love this poem!

In memory of loved ones past………submitted by Lori Liebetrau
Although death has separated us physically, faith and love have bound us eternally.
Though we cannot see you, we know you are here.
Though we cannot touch you, we feel the warmth of your smile,
as we begin a new chapter in our lives.
Today we pause to reflect upon those who have shaped our character,
molded our spirits and touched our hearts.
May the lighting of this candle be a reminder of the memories we have shared,
a representation of the everlasting impact you have made upon our lives.

In honor of my fabulously stylish, loving, quick witted, proper, Australian mom here's a bouquet in her favorite color and flower. I love and miss you! Yet I know you are keeping an eye on all that goes on...including those interesting wedding choices, I know you'll love them in the end!
